Here’s what we’re assaulting our senses with this week…

(Your Father Smelt of) Elderberry Sour by Red Collar Brewing

6.0 per cent ABV • 25 IBU • 650 mL bottles

Kamloops’ Red Collar Brewing describes it better than I ever could, so here you go: “A style which dates back to 932 AD and the ancient brewery of Camelot, this kettle soured ale is brewed with an array of hops and fermented on elderberries. Floral hop aromas, subtle sweetness and audible notes of coconuts create a light bodied, crisp, and fruity brew to the palate, despite being Black as Knight to the eye. This beer uses 100 per cent unrepressed elderberries, grown on some huge… tracts of land. Send our regrets to your hamster, and if you locate the Grail, give Arthur a shout—he’s going nuts looking for it. WARNING: Side effects of consuming this product may include inability to distinguish between African and European Swallows.”

Check The Rhynd by Northpaw Brewing

5.2 per cent ABV • 27 IBU • 473 mL tall cans

There’s not nearly enough A Tribe Called Quest-inspired beers, and we’re glad to see Port Coquitlam’s Northpaw Brewing doing something about that. So here’s a funky introduction: made with Mosaic, Eukanot and Galaxy hops, this hazy pale ale is designed for hot weather, barbecues, block parties. Drink responsibly, and don’t leave your wallet in El Segundo.

And...

It’s Not Me, It’s You by Backcountry Brewing

6.5 per cent ABV • 25 IBU • 473 mL tall cans

The latest in a line of Seinfeld-referencing beers by Backcountry Brewing in Squamish, this East Coast IPA is brewed with all of the hops, including Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Eldorado and Columbus. Hoochie mama! That’s a lot of hops!
