The Flood Falls wildfire burning above Highway 1 near Hope, B.C. remains out of control and has now reached 500 hectares in size.
The Fraser Valley Regional District and District of Hope issued evacuation orders for 13 properties in the Laidlaw and Hunter Creek areas on Sunday.
The eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway remain closed west of Hope.
Additional evacuation alerts remain in place for areas south of the Trans-Canada Highway.
"We are expecting to see increasing smoke this morning and a deeper flow will allow for clearing this afternoon. We're hoping for clear skies this afternoon," said BC Wildfire Service spokesperson Paula Walbauer.
The forecast is also calling for cooler temperatures and the chance of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, which would help firefighters get the blaze under control.
There are 78 firefighters, structural protection teams, seven helicopters and two pieces of heavy equipment assigned to the fire.
Crews have also been working overnight for the past two nights and they are hoping for better visibility for the helicopters today.
"Yesterday was quite a challenge along Highway 1," Walbauer said.
"We're hoping all those things will assist us as well as the cooler temperatures in being able to action this fire easily, although it is in quite steep terrain, and it's very challenging with the topography, to be able to have crews working but hopefully today with the clearing skies, the helicopters will be able to access it easier."
The fire is believed to be human-caused.
