The Dawson Creek and District Hospital recently upgraded their medical imaging services, replacing of one of two X-ray machines, explained Northern Health on their stories page.

The old machine was a Canon Radrex-i model, installed in February 2013, and its replacement is a Carestream Evolution, with installation starting October 2023 and completing in January.

"It was outdated and was becoming difficult to operate due to maintenance issues and the need to replace parts," they noted. The new machine means shorter wait times for patients, using improved image quality and increased reliability.

The upgrade cost was approximately $482,700, and included removing the old machine, renovating the room, and the cost of purchasing and installing the new machine.
