Bobcat visits B.C. neighbourhood on back-to-back days

West Kelowna resident Liz Champion says she was surprised to find a bobcat at the front of her door when she checked her security camera on Saturday.

"My doorbell camera alerted me on the phone. A bobcat... we have never seen one. She has been hanging around this neighbourhood."

Champion, who is in Lakeview Heights, says she believes the bobcat is a female.

"We were away in November and I had a girlfriend staying at the house and she saw very large cat prints in the snow while we were away and I never really thought anything of it."

The bobcat came back again on Sunday.

"We have had deer, and bears, but this is a first for a bobcat."

The Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society says bobcats are very common in the Okanagan, especially if there are birds such as domestic chickens or other small pets on the property.

Champion says she does feed birds outside where the bobcat hung around.
