The BC Wildfire Service is currently on the scene of a fire outside of Lytton, estimated to be 150 hectares.
The flames, located north of the village, have been burning for a few days and 11 personnel are on the scene, according to a Facebook post from the provincial fire fighting agency.
It's currently considered 'out of control.'
"Trails and roads are acting as natural containment lines and crews are working to establish more containment lines on site today," states the post.
"It's located approximately 4 km north of Lytton, between Highway 1 and Highway 12," says BC Wildfire Service fire information officer Taylor Macdonald. "It is fairly visible from the surrounding areas."
She adds that precipitation in the area overnight has helped the fight, and that cooler temperatures in the evening have further aided firefighters.
"It's suspected human-caused," MacDonald says.
The fire isn't believed to be threatening any human structures at this time, she adds.
Previously, Jody Lucius, a fire information officer with the Kamloops Fire Centre, said wildfires within the region aren't unheard of this time of year.
"While all wildfire is of concern, of course, this isn't necessarily an indication of what the fire season might look like. It is really too early in the season to predict what 2020 might look like for us."
Wildfires this time of year tend to burn less intensely than they might at the peak of the summer, for example, because of the lower temperatures and shorter days.
