Access to Old Fort returns after landslide

The road into Old Fort has reopened with speeds reduced to 30 km/hour.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure built a semi-permanent road to support regular traffic and emergency response vehicles, and weight restrictions of 50 per cent legal axle loads are in place.

The province says an automated monitoring system is providing continuous updates on movement in the area, and protocols are in place to respond appropriately.

The Peace River Regional District says weather and seasonal changes could lead to landslide movements, and require road maintenance or closures.
