Little brother is now on the team.
On Tuesday, the Prince George Spruce Kings announced the commitment of forward Nick Poisson for the 2018-19 B.C. Hockey League season. He is a younger sibling of Spruce King sniper Ben Poisson, who just completed his second tour of duty with the club and will be back in uniform in the fall. Both players are products of the Burnaby Winter Club program.
"We are thrilled to add Nick Poisson to our roster for next season," said Spruce Kings head coach Adam Maglio. "We identified Nick throughout this season as an affiliate player. In his time with our team, Nick impressed our staff. He a very intelligent player who plays the game the right way with a high compete level and strong work ethic. Nick's development, especially over this year, has been phenomenal and we are excited have such a quality individual a part of our team next season."
The younger Poisson had 17 goals and 25 assists in the midget prep division of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League this past season. He's listed at five-foot-10.
Two of Nick Poisson's Burnaby Winter Club teammates - Nick Bochen and Tyler Schleppe - will also be on the 2018-19 Spruce Kings roster.
Dipping into the BWC has proven successful for the Spruce Kings. From this season's Kings, who went all the way to the Fred Page Cup playoff championship series, Ben Poisson, Ethan de Jong, Nolan Welsh, Liam Watson-Brawn and Bradley Cooper honed their skills under the guidance of Burnaby Winter Club coaches.
