From Delta to Ontario, from Nova Scotia to Prince George, Luc Soares's hockey career has taken him on a cross-country tour.

The Prince George Spruce Kings added the 19-year-old forward to their lineup Thursday in a trade from the Amhert Ramblers of the Maritime Hockey League for future considerations.

Soares, a native of Delta, played last season for the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior A Hockey League, where he collected 24 goals and 28 assists for 52 points in 49 games.

Soares made the 40-player selection camp for the Hockey East team for the World Junior A Hockey Challenge last year.

On June 2 he was traded to the Carleton Place Canadians, then was sent to Amhurst, June 26.

"Luc is a gifted offensive player with tremendous speed," said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes. "He will provide some skill to an already strong and skilled group of forwards. He is a B.C. kid who is excited to be coming back to his home province to play."

The Kings training camp starts Sunday, Aug. 24.
