Goalie Jakob Drapaeu of Prince George was on his game this past weekend, helping the Kamlops Storm to back-to-back KIJHL wins.
Jakob Drapeau was like a cold front moving down the Arctic last weekend in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
His puck-stopping antics chilled his opponents right down to the bone.
The 19-year-old Kamloops Storm goaltender from Prince George was on his game and gave the Storm the last line of defence they needed to score a pair of wins - 3-2 over the Spokane Braves  and 6-4 over the Castlegar Rebels.
In those to games combined, Drapeau stopped 54 of 60 shots for a .3.00 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.
The KIJHL took notice and named Drapeau its third star of the week.
“I thought I had an OK weekend. We had a hardworking win over Spokane and I had a decent game,” says Drapeau. “Against Castlegar, I had a shaky first, but I had a decent third and the boys brought it together for an amazing third period come back. We came back from a 4-2 deficit to win 6-4
“I was proud of our team this weekend,” Drapeau continued. “All the hard work we have been putting in during practice finally showed this weekend and I'm glad I got to help the team earn two wins in a row.”
Through 14 games this season Drapeau has compiled a 2.68 goals-against average and .917 save percentage while amassing a 6-7-0 record. This is his second season with the Storm.
The Storm (8-16-1-0), fourth in Doug Birks Division) hit the road for a game Friday in Princeton, then return to Kamloops to play the 100 Mile House Wrangers on Sunday.
Joining Drapeau in the spotlight as KIJHL stars of the week were Summerland Steam forward Cody Swan, the first star, and second star Dylan Defosse, a Fernie Ghostriders forward.
Swan, a native of Williams Lake, collected five goals and seven points in games against the Osoyoos Coyotes and Kelowna Chiefs. The Steam captain scored twice in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Osoyoos Coyotes, then netted a hat-trick and five points in a 6-3 win over the Chiefs.
In 25 games this season, Swan has 14 goals and 35 points.
Defosse, a Calgary native, picked up nine points in consecutive wins last week over Nelson (6-4), Castlegar (7-4) and Spokane (8-3).
