Although technically this is still fall, the Prince George Central Interior Catering and Consulting under-14 Heat didn't mind getting the jump on the coldest season of the year.

The Heat captured the silver medal at the Sprit of Winter ringette tournament over the weekend in Langley.

Coached by Keith Sullivan, the double-A Heat advanced to the gold medal game Sunday after tournament wins over West Kelowna (14-1) Port Coquitlam (5-2) and Richmond (8-1) and a tie with Burnaby (6-6).

In the championship game on Sunday, Prince George lost 7-3 to Vernon.

Arwyn Fraser was a rock of stability in net for the Heat throughout the weekend.

Maya Trudel scored 15 goals in four games to stoke the Prince George offence.

Brooklyn Lank and Sarah Derouin each totaled five goals in the four games, Madison Graham, Savannah Boudreau and Abby Barter scored three each, and Addison Paulson and Marisa Proctor also found the net for the Heat.

Prince George Ringette Association teams will be in Houston this weekend for a tournament.
