Prince George Cougars forward Josh Curtis battles Davis Koch of the Vancouver Giants for position while chasing a loose puck on Tuesday night at CN Centre. Koch scored the opening goal of the Western Hockey League game and helped the Giants to a 4-2 victory.

Koch's goal came at 16:14 of the first period and was the only goal of the opening 20 minutes. The Giants went ahead 2-0 in the second period on a marker by Owen Hardy. Josh Curtis got the Cougars on the board later in the middle frame but, before the period was done, Justin Sourdif and Bowen Byram replied for the visitors, who led 4-1 going into the third.

Vladislav Mikhalchuk of the Cougars scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season in the third period.

Trent Miner was the winning goaltender, while Taylor Gauthier took the loss.

The Giants outshot the Cougars 31-22 and handed them their 10th consecutive defeat.

The teams meet again tonight at CN Centre. Opening face-off is at 7.
