The Cariboo Cougars gave up the lead twice in a pair of games against the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs in Burnaby this weekend.

The Chiefs beat the Cariboo Cats 3-2 on Saturday and 5-4 on Sunday, meaning the Prince George team has lost five of its past six games in the B.C. Hockey Major League.

On Saturday, John Herrington and Fischer O'Brien scored for the Caribou Cougars in the second period, after scoreless first period. However, the Chiefs' Ben Fontaine scored a pair of goals in the third period which, on top of Liam Farrell's goal in the second, gave the Chiefs the win.

On Sunday, the Cariboo Cougars led 4-2 after a power-play goal by Matthew Magrath at 11:07 in the second period. But the Chiefs rallied for two goals in the second period to tie it up, then Jacob Myers scored a short-handed goal with just over seven-and-a-half minutes left in the game.

Alex Ochitwa, Brennan Bott and Devan Minard had the other goals for the Cariboo Cats.

The Cougars' now have a 18-10-1-1 record and sit in fifth place in the 11-team league. The Chiefs improved to 21-7-0-0.

Next weekend the Cariboo Cougars will be in Kelowna for a showcase event against the South Island Royals.
