Poll: Half of North Shore residents are engaged in the federal election campaign

Almost a third say there's too much else going on to think about federal politics

With the first week of the campaign now done, the major parties have candidates running in all three North Shore ridings. Climate change, housing and economic recovery from the pandemic are proving to be the major issues so far. 

North Shore News polled 550 North Shore News readers and asked the question: Are you engaged in the federal election already?

The poll ran from Aug. 18 to Aug. 23. Of the 550 votes, we can determine that 195 are from within the North Shore community. The full results are as follows:

Yes, it is a civic responsibility to get informed and vote. 50.00 % total, 49.74 % local    
Somewhat but it's still too early. 20.91 % total, 21.03 % local    
No, there is too much else going on right now. 29.09 % total, 29.23 % local

This result provides for a 95% confidence level +/- 4.17% margin of error in the local community.
