Oh horrors!

Julia Serup has once again found nefarious plots in Ottawa (Letters, June 24). Unfortunately, she is - as usual - a bit extreme in her interpretation of events.

She wrote that nasty Justin had forced Google to remove pages of Harper's news releases and other documentation from a government web site.

In point of fact, the PM's office advised that they had no knowledge of the matter in response to a question by Conservative MP Candice Bergen in the House. Bergen's question, and the answer by the Privy Council, was fully reported: "Christine Fox, assistant secretary for communications in the Privy Council, said the requests to Google were part of the Privy Council's standard transition from the Harper government to Trudeau's. She said the content of Harper's prime ministerial website was transferred to Library and Archives Canada but did not know whether it was online and available to the public."

You may find the material online at Archives Canada.
