Giving the keys away

Neil Godbout's well documented editorial, City council's mistakes piling up, reminded me of the time my then eight-year-old son, who had never driven a vehicle, came to me and said he wanted to drive my car and asked for the keys.

Neil Godbout's well documented editorial, City council's mistakes piling up, reminded me of the time my then eight-year-old son, who had never driven a vehicle, came to me and said he wanted to drive my car and asked for the keys.

If I had given him the keys and he wrecked the car, who is responsible?

Is it my eight-year-old son who eagerly wanted to try driving my car or am I since I gave him the keys?

To elect people, albeit well meaning and sincere, to city council who have never run a large company and expect them to provide the kind of leadership and sound judgment that it takes to run a company as large as the city of Prince George is not only naive but irresponsible on the part of the electorate.

Lessons to be learned as we approach the voting booth for the next federal election.
