The executive director of the Prince George Council of Seniors Lola-Dawn Fennell is busy making plans for the 12th Annual Seniors Fair to be held Aug. 16 in the Kin 3 arena at this year's annual BC Northern Exhibition.

The admission to the Fair Grounds on Pioneer Day only is $2 and parking is free. Kin 3 will have exhibits with information by various organizations and businesses of particular interest to seniors and their caregivers plus there will be activities and many free draws at various displays.

The popular passport event will be held again this year; fairgoers will be issued "passports" on which to collect stamps, stickers or initials from every exhibit and can then submit their passport to be eligible for prizes. You can also vote on your favorite exhibits.

You will want to check out the Old Boot Caf for refreshments and a chance to join your friends and visit with many seniors you may not have seen in a long time.

The BCNE has been held annually since 1912 and is proudly presented by the Prince George Agricultural and Historical Association. According to the BCNE website, the first Prince George Exhibition was held three years before the City of Prince George was incorporated and the same year that the Titanic sank.

The one-day Seniors Fair, an annual part of the Exhibition since 2007 runs on Thursday, the first day of the fair, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Lola Dawn needs volunteers for numerous tasks. She has a need for volunteers to help with stand up and run around (or you can walk if you prefer) tasks as well as sitting down tasks during the fair.

When the fair is over at 5 p.m. she needs volunteers to help with the take-down and clean up by 6 p.m. If you are able to help just contact Lola-Dawn at 250-564-5888 Ext 12.

Also, mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 6 for the Prince George Council of Seniors Third Annual Trivia Competition and Dinner; contact Lola-Dawn for all the details.

The B.C. Seniors Games Society invites all persons young at heart who are 55 years of age and over to join them for the 2018, 55+BC Games.

The event is held every year in a different community in BC. This year the games are being jointly hosted by the cities of Kimberley and Cranbrook from Sept. 11-15. There are events for every interest and ability level from card games to track and field.
