The Elder Citizens Recreation Association (ECRA) annual spring luncheon and strawberry tea is being hosted once again by the Canasta card players, under the direction of Jean Liversidge; proceeds will go directly to centre operations. The event will be held this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1692 Tenth Ave.

Come out and enjoy a generous slice of angel food cake covered with strawberries and topped off with freshly made whipped cream. This delicious dessert includes your choice of coffee or tea for just $5. The menu includes soup and a bun or if you prefer there will be sandwiches available as well. This event also meshes very well with the plant sale held on the same day - customers can eat and then shop for their garden needs or shop first and then come inside for a relaxing meal and treat.

Come early and shop at the ECRA annual plant sale also on Saturday from 10 am to 1 p.m. The plant sale is being hosted by the Tai Chi group under the direction of Lynn Barker, Noreen Rustad with Willa Osis as their ring leader.

Willa said, "I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone that volunteered on this fund raiser to help operate the senior centre. We have so many people who did a lot of work planting, nurturing and potting plants for the past three months as we prepared for this plant sale. We have a great variety of locally grown annuals, perennials, vegetables, flowers, shrubs, small fruits and always a few surprises.

"Our plant sale will have almost everything from A to Z when it comes to plants. That means things like Arugula and Alyssum to Zinnias and Zucchini and lots in between.

"We will graciously accept donations from your garden or green house from 8 to 10 a.m. the morning of the sale. Just bring it to us at 1692 Tenth Ave."

Tai Chi classes at the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre are held back to back each Tuesday and Friday at 9:45 a.m. and then again at 11 a.m. under the direction of the ever-popular Tai Chi instructor Tom Hynd.

Canasta is played each Monday at 1 p.m. under the direction of Willa Osis. Willa welcomes new players. There are many variations to the game of Canasta; the group will cheerfully teach new comers the method that they use.

If you have any questions about the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre, Tai Chi or canasta just call the office at 250-561-9381 and ask for Lisa.
