A 30-year-old man was shot and killed late Friday afternoon in what appears to be a targeted attack in a residential Prince George neighbourhood.
Prince George RCMP are asking the public for help in identifying the culprit responsible for the shooting in the 700 block of Johnson Street, at about 5 p.m. Friday. Multiple shots were reported and police found the man outside a residence suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital and died shortly after.
No suspects were found and because it was likely a targeted attack the public was not considered at risk. The RCMP's serious crimes unit was called in to the investigation.
"This guy is known to us," said Cpl. Craig Douglass, Prince George RCMP media liason officer.  "It's clear to the RCMP that this is targeted. It was very specific. It's not somebody randomly shooting into a crowd. We can't jump to drug trafficking yet but we're confident that it was targeted."
According to Douglass, it is the city's second confirmed homicide of 2018.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or who might have outdoor surveillance images of the scene is strongly urged to contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
