The University of Northern British Columbia and the UNBC Faculty Association have reached a tentative agreement.

The agreement remains subject to ratification by Faculty Association members and the UNBC Board of Governors and the process is expected to be completed by the first week of April, according to an posting on the university's website.

"We are not providing further details until that process is complete," UNBC said.

If accepted, it would end a long-running negotiation that included a three-week strike by UNBC faculty in November 2019.

The following month, the sides agreed to take their differences to "final offer selection arbitration."

Under the process, the arbitrator to selects between the parties' best and final offers and without the ability to "split the difference" between the two.

It's not clear if the sides are voting on an option selected by the arbitrator or a newly-negotiated agreement.
