Classes at the University of Northern British Columbia will remain canceled and picket lines will remain in place today as the school's administration reviews the latest offer from faculty.

In a posting on the UNBC website, administration said the UNBC Faculty Association's bargaining team rejected the employer's latest proposal on Tuesday and chose to present a new proposal which is being reviewed.

As part of its due diligence process, administration said steps include running it by the Public Sector Employers' Council.

Through the PSEC, the provincial government sets a bargaining mandate for the public sector, "which all public sector employers are statutorily bound to observe," administration says in another posting.

In a statement, UNBC FA president Stephen Rader said members are "extremely disappointed with the slow pace of bargaining" but noted the UNBC Board of Governors, which must ratify any agreement that's reached on behalf of the university, meets this Friday.

The strike entered its 13th day today.
