Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for two suspects after man was taken to hospital with a single gunshot wound, suffered early morning Thursday on Upland Street near 20th Avenue.

Police, who were called to the scene at 2:15 a.m., believe three people were walking together on Upland when they came across two males on bikes.

"At least one of the two cyclists pulled out a handgun and fired towards the others, striking one of them," RCMP said. "The cyclists fled before police were called. At this time, it is not believed that the victims knew the suspects."

With the help of a service dog and handler, police searched the area for suspects but without success.

"There is no evidence to indicate that this shooting is related to any other recent incident. The investigation is continuing," RCMP said.

The victim's injury was not life-threatening, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers.
