The BC Wildfire Service and BC Timber Sales will be burning about 100 piles

of wood debris along West Lake Estates Road, starting on Wednesday and continuing

periodically until the spring of 2021.

Road is about 25 kilometres southwest of Prince George, along the western

shore of West Lake.

"Smoke may be visible from Prince George and surrounding areas," BCWS said. "The decision on when to start burning will depend on weather and site conditions. Such burns are only conducted when conditions are suitable."

BC Wildfire Service and BC Timber Sales personnel will be on site to control and monitor the

fires and the work will adhere with the open burning and smoke control regulation to limit the impact on air quality in nearby communities, officials added.

"These piles are the result of logging activities and consist of unsalvageable wood debris.

Burning this material will help decrease the risk of future wildfires in the area by reducing

accumulations of surface fuels."
