The Prince George Hospice Society is cancelling two of its fundraisers planned for National Hospice Month, and has closed its resale store in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday, the society announced it has cancelled the High Tea for Hospice, which was set to take place on May 5, and a new event, the Colour Walk, which was planned for May 26 at UNBC.

"We will be contacting the people that purchased tickets and refunding their money. All sponsors will be notified," hospice society executive director Donna Flood said in a press release. "We appreciate that this is a difficult time for all our not-for-profit partners and we will not be rescheduling  these events to ensure that the fundraising space is left open for those events previously planned by our partners."

The hospice society funds and operates the Rotary Hospice House, which provides end-of-life care for patients.
