So far 151 evacuees have arrived in Prince George fleeing forest fires around the area.

"We do expect more in the days to come although we don't know how many," said City of Prince George spokesperson Mike Kellett.

When those evacuees arrive, they register for services at the Emergency Reception Centre (ERC) located at CN Centre.

The Kin 1 arena next door is being readied for upwards of 260 overnight guests, but cots have yet to be needed for those who have so far come to Prince George.

"We have accommodated all of them in commercial lodging (i.e. in a hotel or motel) so far," said Kellett.

Evacuation alerts or orders have been issued for a number of fires in the Cariboo, Lakes, Bulkley and Nechako Valley regions.

Favourable weather over the weekend allowed some gains to be made by firefighting crews, but most blazes are still not fully contained, some of them completely wild.

Emergency services responders in Prince George are readying for an influx of evacuees if needed, but the numbers so far are not beyond the scope of the ERC's on-site staff.

"We are not yet issuing a call for volunteers," Kellett said.

Officials are also not calling on the public for donations of any kind.
