Downtown Winterfest returns this Sunday at Canada Games Plaza. The outdoor winter festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a wide variety of family-friendly events.

Downtown Winterfest returns this Sunday at Canada Games Plaza. 

The outdoor winter festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a wide variety of family-friendly events.

"The 'There is S'more Downtown' contest brings you a chance to try some very creative s'more recipes from groups, businesses and individuals," said a press release by Downtown Prince George, which hosts the annual event. "While you are indulging in these traditional outdoor treats, you can be witness to a spectacular showcase of snow and ice carving art that will, once again, feature award-winning talent from international sculptor Peter Vogelaar of Ephemeral Arts."

In addition to snow sculptures, kids can take a spin on a slide made of ice.

Ness Lake Bible Camp and the YMCA of Northern B.C. will be hosting games including a varity of camp activities and mini snow golf, while the Prince George Spruce Kings and Cariboo Cougars will play some road hockey. Residents can bring their hockey stick and join in.

There will also be minature horses, a minature train and an indoor winter market inside the Prince George Civic and Conference Centre.

"The Prince George Library and Two Rivers Gallery will also be offering free indoor activities throughout the day," the press release said.

There will be music by DJ Ant, food trucks and an indoor concession inside the civic centre.
