Record-setting numbers were reached on the COVID-19 front in Northern Health on Wednesday.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported 35 new cases, an unprecedented amount for the region since the pandemic broke out and helping to push the number of new cases up to 181, also a new high and well up from 153 the day before.
As well, hospitalizations stood at 26, another record high while the number in intensive care grew to 11, just one off from the peak recorded on November 19. Deaths held steady at six for the region.
As of Tuesday, the seven day rolling average for positivity - the percentage of tests that yielded a positive result for the virus - rose to 8.6 per cent, second only to Fraser Health at nine per cent.
Province-wide, a record 13 deaths were recorded - 11 in Fraser Health and two in Vancouver Coastal. In all 371 people have now died from the virus in B.C.
New cases stood at 738, with Fraser Health accounting for 443 and Vancouver Coast 169.
Active cases for B.C. grew by 84 to 7,732, hospitalizations grew by 10 to 284 and patients in intensive care held steady at 61.
