The Prince George Cougars' annual teddy bear and toque toss is set for this Saturday.

Fans who attend the game against the Victoria Royals at CN Centre, 7 p.m. start, are encouraged to bring a new or gently-used stuffed toy and or warm winter clothes (coats, toques, socks, blankets, and mittens) to the game.

When the Cougars score their first goal, they are invited to throw their bagged donations onto the ice. All items will be distributed to people in need over the holidays through the Salvation Army in Prince George.

For those who need an item to throw, the Cougars store will also be selling bagged clothing items for just $5 per each starting at 6 p.m.

"No matter where you sit in the CN Centre, you'll be able to toss your items onto the ice as soon as we score. Our end zone nets will quickly be pulled up, and everyone can join in the fun," said

Cougars' business vice president Andy Beesley.

"We encourage everyone to put their items in a plastic bag before tossing onto the ice, to keep everything dry and in great shape and ready to be donated."

- One lucky fan will be going home with a huge Christmas bonus.

An unclaimed prize of $4,373 from the Nov. 9 50-50 draw will be added to pot for the game, so that the jackpot winner will walk away with that amount plus half of the proceeds from this Saturday night's 50-50 sales.
