Permits for $7.7 million worth of construction were taken out at city hall in January, according to a report presented to council on Monday.

The total exceeds those reached during the same month in 2018 ($6.5 million over 32 permits) and 2019 ($4.5 million over 32 permits) which ended up as record-breaking years. Of the 39 permits issued last month, two were for $1.37 million worth of new single-family homes.

Another was for a two-unit dwelling worth $918,188. Nine were issued for $3.6 million worth of alterations to commercial buildings, one for a $590,000 institutional alteration, three for $465,600 worth of industrial building alterations and one for a new industrial building worth $15,000.
