The City of Prince George is looking at how its operations will fit into the B.C. Restart Plan announced by Premier John Horgan on Wednesday.

In addition to a number of business types expected to reopen on or around May 19, public facilities like sports fields, outdoor spaces like parks, transit services, offices, sports and recreation facilities, museums, art galleries and libraries are expected to be able to reopen.

"The city is reviewing BC’s Restart Plan and how it will affect city operations and services following yesterday afternoon’s announcement," city spokesperson Micheal Kellett said in an email. "The city will communicate with the public and media once a plan is in place."

No further details were available as of Thursday.

Regional District of Fraser-Fort George spokesperson Renee McCloskey said Wednesday's announcement won't have an immediate impact on district operations.

"We will continue to look for guidance from the province to ensure all our sites and facilities align with the directives of (provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie) Henry," McCloskey wrote in an email.

While provincial parts are expected to open later this month, the regional district's parks opened on May 1, she said.

"The announcement yesterday by the premier does not impact or change our parks operations, except of course for the public health directives of maintaining safe physical distances. All visitors to our parks are asked to respect the physical distancing protocols and refrain from touching surfaces like gates, fences, etc.," she said. "Having places to go outside and enjoy a hike or picnic is important, especially as the weather warms up and people are looking to get out of their homes."
