City council unanimously gave its approval to a proposed recreational cannabis store on Sintich Road on Monday night.

City council unanimously approved a rezoning application for 9902 Sintich Road – a retail location in the same building as the PG Liquor Box liquor store near the intersection of Sintich Road and Highway 97. Council also submitted its support for the planned store, called Southway Marijuana, to the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.

"We don't expect any negative impacts, given what's around this area," city general manager of planning development Ian Wells.

No public input was submitted regarding the application in writing or in person at the public hearing on Monday night.
