The Active Support Against Poverty shelter could have been the site of a COVID-19 exposure.

Northern Health issued Tuesday a notice of potential exposure for the agency's 1188-6th Ave. shelter for January 19-21. Anyone who visited the shelter during that time is asked to take extra care to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 until February 5, which is 14 days from the last date of possible exposure.

Contact tracing is underway and, where possible, Northern Health is reaching out directly to people who have been exposed.

Those who develop symptoms are asked to self-isolate and to contact the COVID-19 Online Clinic and Information Line for Northern BC residents, 1-844-645-7811, or contact their doctor or nurse practitioner.

Northern Health also urged people to follow COVID-19 precautions and provincial restrictions: No social gatherings of any size; Wearing a mask in indoor public spaces; No non-essential travel; Staying home if you are sick
