Emma Lunder of Vernon and Christian Gow of Canmore, Alta., finished eighth out of 30 teams inĀ single-mixed relay team to an eighth-place finish Thursday at the world biathlon championships in Antholz-Anteselva, Italy.
The Canadians had seven misses in eight shooting bouts and ended up 1:03.4 behind the pace of the gold medalists from Norway, Marte Olsbu Roeisland and Johannes Thingnes Boe. The Norwegians clocked 34:19.4 and won by 17.6 seconds over second-place Germany (Franziska Preuss, Erik Lesser). France (Anais Bescond, Emilien Jacquelin) took bronze, 29.8 seconds behind Norway.
The championships resume Saturday with the women's and men's relays. Sarah Beaudry of Prince George is expected to join up with Lunder, Nadia Moser of Whitehorse, Yukon and Megan Bankes of Calgary on the Canadian women's team for the relay.
Beaudry finished 70th in Tuesday's 12.5-kilometre individual race.
Chrostian Gow, his brother Scott, Jules Brunotte of Sherbrooke, Que., and Aidan Millar of Canmore will form the Canadian men's relay team.
The championships end Sunday with the mass start races.
