There is not a lot of snow to play with, but groomers at Otway Nordic Centre have made the most of it.
They trail experts at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club have packed and rolled a thin layer of the white stuff on the lower slopes and dog trails to the point where it's good enough to open those trails.
With snow in the forecast this weekend, Otway will be open for the season on Sunday.
Skiers are being asked to wear their passes visibly to allow ski hosts to see them.
The Caledonia club office at the base of the Rotary Lodge will be open for the rest of December on weekends from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and weekdays from 9-6.
Environment Canada is forecasting light snow for today with a high of -17 C expected. The deep freeze that's had the city in its grips the past two weeks will continue to abate, with high temperatures of -1 C on Sunday and 0 C on Monday. Periods of snow expected Sunday and Monday.
