Local snowboarders have their day

Prince George snowboarders Evan Bichon and Dawson Ellery finished 12th and 14th respectively in Canada Winter Games parallel giant slalom Tuesday at Purden Ski Village. In the field of 19 athletes, gold went to Griff Haines of Ontario.

In the field of 19 athletes, gold went to Griff Haines of Ontario. Oliver Vachon of Quebec won the silver medal and teammate Jules Lefebvre took bronze.

In the women's competition, Prince George's Meryeta O'Dine place ninth, while Elise Dube of Burns Lake was 15th.

A total of 18 boarders competed. Marianne Laurin-Lalonde of Quebec grabbed gold, while silver went to Maddie Radvanyi of Nova Scotia and bronze was snapped up by Alexandra Villiard of Quebec.
