Provincials didn't go as planned for the Alyssa Connell rink.

Connell's team from the Prince George Golf and Curling Club threw stones at the Tim Hortons junior women's curling championship, which concluded Sunday in Kamloops. Connell and her mates - third Bailey Eberherr, second Jordan Henson and lead Erin Ross - had been aiming for a top-three finish but settled for seventh in the eight-team event.

The Connell rink finished with a 1-6 record, the only win a 10-2 victory against Kimberley's Alysha Buchy in the final draw.

In their other games, Connell and company lost 8-5 to Shawna Jensen's Vancouver Island crew, fell 7-3 to eventual champion Sarah Daniels of New Westminster, dropped a 13-11 decision to Vernon's Winter Harvey in an extra end, lost 10-4 to Sarah Loken of Delta, fell 9-3 to runner-up Corryn Brown of Kamloops and lost 9-2 to Mariah Coulombe of Victoria.

In Sunday's final, Daniels beat Brown 11-3 in nine ends. Daniels broke the game open with five points in the fourth end and a steal of one in the fifth.

The Daniels foursome will now play as Team B.C. at junior nationals, Jan. 23-31 in Stratford, Ont. The Canadian champion will move on to worlds, March 5-13 in Erzurum, Turkey.
