Cariboo Cats down Bisons

The Cariboo Cougars sunk their claws into the Foothills CRF Chemical Bisons early in the first period on Tuesday and didn't let go. The Cats and Bisons faced off in Max Bell Centre in Calgary as part of the Mac's Triple-A Midget Hockey Tournament.

The Cariboo Cougars sunk their claws into the Foothills CRF Chemical Bisons early in the first period on Tuesday and didn't let go.

The Cats and Bisons faced off in Max Bell Centre in Calgary as part of the Mac's Triple-A Midget Hockey Tournament.

The Cougars' Chris Jandric took advantage of a cross-checking penalty against the Bisons' Cole Clayton four minutes into the first period to score on the powerplay. Jeremy Gervais earned the assist on the goal.

Once the Cougars had the lead, they never gave it up.

Tyler Ho, Jesse Pomeroy each picked up a goal for the Cougars. Chase Dubois scored two – one in the second period and a empty-netter in the last 10 seconds of the game.

Cougars goalie Kazuma 'Dorin' Luding stopped 18 of 21 shots against him. Bisons netminder Ryan Simpson faced 34 shots.

Tuesday's game was the third in a four-game round robin for the Cougars. The Cats – who have two wins and one loss – take on their final round robin opponent, the Ontario Avalanche, Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. Mountain time.
