Some residents in the downtown area may have noticed a strange colour in the water coming from their taps today.

The city says there was a water main break at 15th Avenue and Burden Street that required some excavation in the area to repair and some properties had to have the water shut off.

However, due to the disruption in the lines from the excavation, some sediment has been stirred up resulting in properties in the downtown and lower bowl area having sediment evident in the water.

The city advises running the water until it runs clear and notes that it is safe to drink and says that the issue should be resolved by the end of the day.
