Victoria police are investigating and asking the public for help after a woman was attacked Saturday night in James Bay, while she was walking her dog.
The woman was attacked from behind in the 400-block of Simcoe Street around 10 p.m. on April 30.
The attacker, described as a 50-year-old white man with a slim build and about six-feet tall, pushed the woman face first into the wall, causing head injuries and cuts.
According to police, while the woman was dazed, the man rifled through her pockets and started to move away when he found nothing of value.
The woman reported the incident to police on Tuesday when she started to experience additional symptoms from the head injury she suffered in what is being called an unprovoked attack.
Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening, but continue to impact her well-being.
Police are looking for surveillance video that may shed light on the incident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or knows anything about it to contact police at 250-995-7654 (ext 1).
The suspect had grey hair and was wearing either a green or blue jacket at the time of the incident.
