Prince George RCMP issued a clarification Wednesday regarding an investigation into an alleged hit-and-run.

"Our initial information gathering lead us to believe the suspect vehicle was a Bandstra truck. However, through investigation it was determined no Bandstra trucks were involved in the incident. The suspect vehicle has been located and our investigation is ongoing," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

On the night of Wed., July 13, RCMP were called to the intersection of Highway 97 South and 22 Avenue where a youth had been struck by a semi-trailer truck.

The youth was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver left the scene but later returned and is cooperating with police, RCMP said.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m.

The investigation remains open and RCMP are asking anyone who may witnessed the incident or may have dashcam recordings from the area at the time to contact the detachment at 250-561-3300.
