Police at a 1300-block Kellogg Avenue home where a man was shot during a break and enter early morning Wednesday.

A conflict in which a trigger was pulled has put one man in hospital and another in police custody.

B.C. Prosecution Service has since approved two counts of possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm against Kyle Eric Smeds, 38.

Prince George RCMP were called shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a break and enter at a 1300-block Kellogg Avenue home in the Spruceland neighbourhood.

Upon arrival, they determined a 35-year-old man had been shot during an altercation. The victim had already been transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The victim and the suspect are known to one another and investigators believe this to be an isolated incident," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

Based on a search of Canada 411, Smeds appears to be the home's occupant.

Police officers were at the residence for several hours.

Anyone who has video surveillance or dash cam footage of the incident or witnessed the event and have not spoken to police is asked to call the non-emergency number at 250-561-3300 to speak with police. Quote file number 22-30410.
