Ever heard of fast filmmaking?
Imagine if you were given 72 hours to make a movie that had to contain certain elements and it can't be more than seven minutes long?
That's the idea behind a new Port Moody film festival as directors that signed up for the event are set to present their final cuts to the public.
The Frantic Breeze Fast Film Competition will be showcasing 11 short movies at the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.) this month before a panel of judges.
One of which includes Corner Gas alum and Port Moody Secondary graduate Fred Ewanuick, as well as local actor Hiro Kanagawa, who won the 2017 Governor General's Literary Award for drama.
For the contest, registered filmmakers were given three days to create a movie between four and seven minutes long.
The theme of the inaugural event was to present the City of the Arts and its "wonder" to all who visit.
As well, contestants had to include "mystery elements" to add a uniqueness factor for each team's final project.
Local movie-goers are now invited to vote for their favourite and watch all the submissions on Sept. 10.
Voting for the Frantic Breeze Audience Choice Award opened at noon today (Sept. 2) and will close at the same time on Labour Day Monday (Sept. 5).
Tickets to attending the screening and awards ceremony are $8 each online — $10 at the door the day of.
