Kudos: Richmond high school students raise funds for Richmond Hospital

Two Grade 11 marketing classes created projects to help raise funds for the hospital foundation

Students at Burnett secondary have raised a total of $2,400 for Richmond Hospital Foundation.

Grade 11 students in two marketing classes decided to operate their own non-profit ventures to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Student Victor Lam said his class chose to launch a school spirit apparel collection -- the John Napier Collection – designing hoodies, sweatshirts and tote bags to sell online to their school community.

All profits were donated to the Richmond Hospital Foundation and Covenant Vancouver House, said Lam, who is also CEO of the John Napier Collection.

Lam’s class raised $1,500 for Richmond Hospital Foundation and $540.81 for Covenant House Vancouver.

The second class launched Marketing B2 Venture, helmed by co-CEOs and students Coey Wong and John Zheng.

Their class decided to split up to host two unique fundraisers: the “Anti Covid Covid Club” pandemic kit fundraiser and “Glassify” song poster (a glass song poster made from scratch) fundraiser.

Both the pandemic kit and song poster were sold to the Richmond community, with all funds going to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.

In total, Zheng and Wong’s class raised $900 for the foundation.
