Which Vancouver neighbourhoods have the highest or lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates?

One neighbourhood lags farthest behind all others when it comes to first and second doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

According to the British Columbia Centre of Disease Control, almost all greater Vancouver areas are in the 90th percentile for first and second doses.

The British Columbia Centre of Disease Control’s (BCCDC) COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard keeps track of the province’s vaccination rates broken down by age and location. Vancouver Is Awesome took a look at the vaccination rates among those currently eligible for the vaccine, those aged 12 and up.

The BCCDC breaks down greater Vancouver in the following areas:

The percentage of vaccinated population 12+ shows Vancouver - Northeast with the highest percentages for both doses at 97 and 93 per cent for the first and second shots. Vancouver - City Centre also has a first dose vaccination rate of 97 but a second dose rate of 92 per cent.

Vancouver - Midtown ties with Vancouver - Northeast for highest percentage of second doses received at 93. Taking second palace is Vancouver - City Centre at 92 per cent of ages 12+ having received their second dose.

For both doses Vancouver - Centre North is the farthest behind. The region includes the Downtown Eastside, Northeast False Creek and Grandview-Woodland. As of Nov. 2, 90 per cent of these residents had received their first dose compared to the 84 per cent who have received their second.

In terms of trajectory, it appears over the last week (Oct. 26 - Nov. 2) vaccination rates for the first dose have plateaued with Vancouver - Northeast, Vancouver - Midtown, Vancouver - Westside and Vancouver - Centre North maintaining their previous week’s rate.
