Downtown Prince George to host Winterfest this Saturday

Ice slide, snow wall and interactive sculptures to be among the attractions

Veterans Plaza at City Hall will be transformed into a winter playground when the Downtown Winterfest is held this Saturday.

It will be a chance to celebrate winter with your family by enjoying the ice slide, snow wall, interactive sculptures, and some fun snow games.

Peter Vogelaar of Ephemeral Arts will be creating sculptures made of ice collected by the Ness Lake Bible Camp. 

Bring your sticks to join a fun road hockey game with local athletes, enjoy a ride on the Cottonwood Express miniature train and rock to the music with DJ Ant.

You'll be able to Indulge your taste buds in many ways - from local food trucks to downtown restaurants offering specials to a pancake breakfast, served up by the Royal Canadian Legion.

That wintertime favourite, s'mores, will also be available for purchase with proceeds going to local organizations.

The Prince George Farmers’ Market and Q3 Community Market at 3rd and Quebec will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the downtown's "antique alley" at 4th and George will be bursting with antiques and vintage items.

You can pack your skates and join the public skating session at the Kopar Memorial Arena from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the Canfor Leisure Pool, home to a waterslide and ninja cross, will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Prince George Public Library – Bob Harkins Branch will be offering special activities and the doors at Two Rivers Gallery will be open to the public.

"During this celebration of winter, we hope you will enjoy some family fun while also taking the time to visit our specialty shops, antique shops, doughnut shops, coffee shops, clothing shops, beauty shops, shoe shops, home décor shops and more," Downtown Prince George said in a press release.
