Drugs and cash seized from a Valemount home on Fri., July 24.

A man was arrested and "substantial amounts" of drugs were seized when a search warrant was executed Friday on a "known drug house" in Valemount, according to RCMP.

Suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, "crack" cocaine, gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia, including scales, plastic baggies, and needles, and more than $6,800 in cash were found in the 1000-block 14th Avenue home.

The step was the result of "months of ongoing investigations, evidence collection, surveillance, and information gathering," RCMP said.

"Drugs are not just in the big cities," said Valemount RCMP Cst. Robert Riemer in a statement.

"We, as a community can work to restrict drug sales and help prevent the social and family problems that go with it. I hope that these successes will inspire more people to come forward with information.

"This is only the beginning as police will continue to focus on drug related movements and sales to help ensure a safe and positive community for all."

The suspect's name was not released and charges remain pending approval by Crown counsel.

The community of 1,054 is 285 kilometres east of Prince George.
