Prince George RCMP says the detachment's downtown safety unit rounded up 19 suspected shoplifters over a four-day targeting of the London Drugs at Parkwood Mall.

Three members of the unit and one general duty member ran the "boost and bust" over two days in late April and two days in mid-May.

Of those arrested, RCMP said four were breaching their court ordered conditions not to be in the store and one of them was arrested twice on separate days.

All were release with dates to attend court in August and September.

Police released all the offenders with future court dates in August and September.

"Unless a person presents a significant public safety threat, release at the earliest reasonable opportunity on the least onerous grounds is favoured,” Cst. Jennifer Cooper said.

A similar operation was carried out at Pine Centre Mall in March.
