A Prince George man was sentenced Monday to a further 180 days in jail and prohibited from driving for five years for trying to flee police while behind the wheel of a motorhome.

Shawn Gilbert Leroux (aka Lash Leroux) was issued the term in Prince George provincial court on counts of dangerous driving, fleeing police and failing to stop.

The outcome stems from a Feb. 22 incident that began when a North District RCMP traffic services member noticed the motorhome lacked licence plates and tried to pull it over near Fifth Avenue and Central Street.

Instead, the motorhome collided with the RCMP vehicle and kept going. The officer avoided serious injury continued to  follow the motorhome which police said was being driven erratically and would not stop when the member activated his emergency lights.

Prince George RCMP were called in to help while the driver continued to Haldi Lake Road, where he collided with a pickup truck at the intersection with Highway 16 West before finally stopping in the 9000 block of Haldi Lake Road.

Leroux had remained in custody since his arrest - a total of 118 days.
