Traffic was diverted around a portion of Highway 97 in Quesnel for several hours on Wednesday as police investigated a suspicious death.
Quesnel RCMP said officers were called to a report of shots fired shortly before 3 a.m. in the 200 block of Front Street, near the Cariboo Hotel.
A 46-year-old man was found at the scene and later died in hospital.
A stretch between Nelson Street and Legion Drive had been closed with a detour available. It was reopened by shortly before 2 p.m.
