Prince George RCMP utilized their Police Dog Services team to make arrests in connection to two separate stolen firearms incidents.

Prince George RCMP have arrested six suspects in connection to two separate incidents a month apart that involved firearms.

On Tuesday just before 3 p.m., police investigated a report of shots fired near the intersection of Milburn Avenue and Norwood Street. Officers converged on a residence in the Lombardy Trailer Park in the 2100 block of Norwood. Witnesses said a four-door grey sedan carried occupants who had pointed a firearm as they drove around the neighbourhood.

RCMP called in the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services and called out the six occupants of the home, who were then arrested.

“A search warrant was executed and investigators located numerous firearms throughout the trailer, as well as in the suspect vehicle,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Prince George RCMP media relations officer. “These items were seized and police later determined three of the firearms were among those stolen from a local gas station on February 7, 2023.”

All six individuals were subsequently released. Two of them face future court dates pending the results of the investigation.

The weapons found in the home are believed to be connected to an armed robbery Feb. 7 at 1 a .m. at a gas station in the 8000 block of the Hart Highway. The suspects in that incident stole several firearms from a locked cabinet and fled in a dark coloured mnivan.

A short time later police saw a minivan that matched the description of the suspect vehicle near Oak Street and Monkley Avenue. The van fled the scene and was located parked in the middle of Strathcona Park.

A dog team assisted police in finding four suspects, who were arrested at the scene and were being held in custody until they appeared in court.
