Active COVID cases grow to 52 in Northern Health

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health on Wednesday.

The count helped boost the number of active cases to 52, up nine from the day before.

The BCCDC put the number in critical care at three, up by one from the day before, although the number of hospitalized was posted at two, unchanged from Tuesday.

Province-wide, there were 342 new cases and Interior Health was the province's hotspot with 171 new cases. The region was also home to 945 active cases, more than half the 1,764 for the province as a whole.

Fifty-five were hospitalized with 23 in critical care across B.C. according to the website.

Health officials said 81.5 per cent (3,777,588) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 67.9 per cent (3,146,669) have received their second dose.

In addition, 82.4 per cent  (3,564,533) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 70.1 per cent (3,033,200) have received their second dose.

No new deaths were reported.
